German soccer manager games are very peculiar in form - they very rarely simulate any other divisions than the 1. and 2. Bundesliga, usually offer very similar range of options and very similar way of storing informations about the player. The most typical way is that the skills of the player are shown as a single value between 1 and 10 (or in some cases between 1 and 100), with very little data about his technical or mental skills, just one number to cover it all. Club Manager, despite being more advanced than old games went into exactly the same direction - the graphic side of the game has decent quality, the interface is adequate, the data about player are very obscure.
The creators described Club Manager as "quick" manager game, in which you can play a full season within an hour, which is a good idea to keep the game simple, but while you have very little data about players it is on a verge of being superficial - it does not matter which player you will use in a game, if he has the same level of general skills they will play exactly the same role in the match.
The match itself is presented in text events listed and simple 3D animations presenting the goal attempts, but since they are only pre-made animations they do not use the team colors that you have chosen (they are always in red or blue uniforms), so this could be a bit confusing at times.
Overall a game that looks very modern, but at the same time is very simple (on a verge of being oversimplified) when it comes to the soccer itself.
