Ronald was defender, while Erwin was midfielder, but Ronald was the one that build far more impressive career due to one of his unique skills - powerful shot that he often clinically used to score from free kicks and penalty kicks. After 2 good seasons in Gronigen he moved to Ajax Amsterdam in 1983, in both teams reaching quite impressive numbers of goals scored. In 1986 he was transfered to PSV Eindhoven, where in 3 years he scored over 50 goals. It was not surprise when his next club was great FC Barcelona, in which he became a star. After 5 seasons in Spain he returned to Holland and played his last 2 seasons for Feyenoord.
After ending his career he became assistant manager for Dutch national team and FC Barcelona, later he worked as manager and that career was equally impressive - Vitesse Arnhem, Ajax Amsterdam, Benfica Lisbona, PSV Eindhoven, Valencia CF, AZ Alkmaar, Feyenoord Rotterdam and since 2014 Southampton FC.
