PSV Eindhoven football club

Philips Sport Vereniging was founded on 31 August 1913 as team supported by the Philips company, that specialized in lighting, later in electronics. And to this day Philips is the main sponsor of the team, also the club stadium is called Philips Stadion. Until 1960s the team was struggling to compete with two great Dutch teams Ajax Amsterdam and Feyenoord Rotterdam. At that point the strategy to buy the top players from other teams was introduced - PSV was using the Philips company financial support to pay higher prices and higher wages, which of course lead to unrest among other teams. After winning UEFA Cup in 1978 and European Cup in 1988 PSV was established as one of the stronger sides in Europe, but the strategy of the club was switched to buying less known, but promising players (similar to Ajax) and helping them to develop.
