As year 2023 showed best laid plans will always lose when confronted by the reality - due to job-related commitments I was unable to finish the rework of Rama before December, due to extra work that dropped on me and the flu season December came and went without updates and here we are in 2024.
On positive side I had time during the break to move closer to finishing the changes, but as last year proved, nothing can be as easy as we want to. Due to changes made by the server provider I have to adapt the code of the game to newer software, which will take few days due to fact that every single page of the website and every single function of the game needs to be retested.
Also Google was kind enough to change rules of their gmail accounts (which most users use) and the previous way the game notifications were delivered resulted in some of them not being delivered at all and some hours after being sent, which especially for joining users is a pain in the neck, since they have to verify their accounts, so the registration process needed to be reworked and the way mails are sent changed. Since Google, of course, does not explain what are the new rules of their account, it took two extra days to work out how to deliver mails to gmail accounts.
That is why the restart is postponed until Sunday, January 14th.
Frey United SoftwareDuring tests on Saturday I have detected a problem with account / club creation on the public copy (account does not switch correctly the status, allows inactive user to parts of the interface it should not), was hoping it is easy to fix, yet on Monday only some of them are fixed. New restart date is Wednesday, if the problems will continue we will start the season without option for new users to join.
Frey United SoftwareThat is all I have to say - random disaster, few hours without electricity, happy times all around :( Should be done with the restart by the morning, but taking under consideration how well everything went so far in 2024 something weird will happen anyway, so I moved the start of the season until Friday.
